Assistance to Canadians (Consular section)

The Consular Section provides assistance to Canadians who are in difficulties and also offers services. Example linked to passports, Canadian citizenship and legalization of documents.

If you lost your passport then it needs to be reported to the police. They will issue a police card with a case number. The Embassy will require this police case number to issue a temporary travel document or a new passport. Ensure that this is done before you go to the Embassy for assistance. If you gave birth you will need the original government issued birth certificate as well as the translation and certification of the birth certificate. You can then register a Canadian born abroad. A travel document for the child will be needed as well.

Hours of operation for all consular services. Example  (passports and citizenship), other then notary services, are from Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

With regards to operating hours. The Embassies are normally closed on Canadian public holidays as well as local public holidays. Check your calanerder before you go to the Embassy for assistance. Also note that any visa longer than 6 months requires a medical exam for Canada.

Hours of operation for notary services. Example (authentication of signatures – general, power of attorney, travel authorization for minors and others) are from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM by appointment only.
