Note that the Canadian High Commission is close to the German Embassy, US Embassy and also up the road from the Thai Embassy in New Delhi and not far from the British Embassy in India. Canadian Consulate in Kolkata

If you live in one of these areas then you will need to seek advice from the Canadian High Commissioner in Delhi. There are other Consulates in India and a new one that has been opened over the last few years has been the Canadian Consulate in Kolkata. This Consulate covers a different area of India. If you live in West Bengal. Then the Canadian Consulate in Kolkata is where you would seek consular assistance.

Consulate of Canada in Bengaluru

The Consulate of Canada in Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore). The Consulate covers the areas of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. So if you are in Andhra Pradesh or Kerala. Then you have to contact the Consulate of Canada in Bengaluru. This Canadian Consulate also offers passport services. Note that this name has been changed Bangalore to Bengaluru.

Now if you lost your passport while in India, you will need to report the loss of theft to the local police. They will provide you with a case number on a card. You will then go to the High Commission or Consulate depending on where you are located. You will then report this to the consular staff and apply for a new Canadian passport. So you will then need to wait for a temporary travel document or a passport. Most people tend to be on holidays and might need to leave later that week. This is one of the most common issues globally.

Consular Assistance

If you are getting married in India, you will need a letter of no impediment. This will prove that you are single. You need to apply at the High Commission or Consulate in your area. It takes a while to get the letter and you will then need to translate and certify this letter. You can then use it to register your marriage in India. Then translate and certify the marriage registration for your spouse visa to Canada.

Now if you have given birth in India. You will need all the government papers for the birth. This needs to be translated and certified. From there you need to apply at the High Commission or Consulate. Complete the forms, bring the child with and submit all the documents with the application. This takes a while but you will need to apply for a travel document for the child once the first part is done. So then the child can follow you to Canada on her/his own passport or travel document.
