If you are getting married you will need a letter from the Canadian Embassy in Uruguay to state that you are single. This freedom to marry or a letter of no impediment needs to be issued. You need to apply at the Embassy and they will issue you the letter. You normally have to wait a day or two for this. Once they provide the letter you will need to have it translated and then certified. It can then be used to register your marriage at the local authorities. When done you can translate and certify the marriage registration for use with your spousal visa application.

Consular Assistance

Now if you lost your passport you will need to report the passport as lost or stolen to the police. They will give you a letter or card with the case number. You will need this for the Embassy. When you apply for a lost passport replacement they will issue you with a new passport or travel document to return to Canada. This, only once the application has been processed which can take a while.

If you gave birth you will also need assistance. You will need to take all the original documents from the hospital and local government. Have this translated and certified. Then complete the application form at the Embassy to register the child. Normally you will need to take the child with you as well as your Canadian passport.
