Canadian Embassy in Syria

Canadian EmbassyCanada suspended the operations of its Embassy in Damascus on March 05, 2012, in response to the deteriorating security situation. Until that date, Canada’s diplomatic presence in Syria made it possible to maintain direct links with the Syrian people, monitor events on the ground, and deliver tough messages to the Syrian authorities — despite the risks.

On May 29, 2012, Canada expelled all Syrian diplomats in response to the abhorrent crimes committed by the Syrian regime in Houla.
