If you are in Chile on holiday and you lose your passport then you will need consular assistance. You will need to report your lost passport and then they will give you a police case number. Usually this is a card with the case number on. You will need to contact the Canadian Embassy for an appointment. You will then complete the needed application forms and add the police card to the application. The application will then be processed and you will get a temporary travel document or a passport depending on what is needed.

Should you have given birth in Chile you will need to collect all the birth registration documents. This would be from the Chilean government. This will need to be translated and certified. Once it is processed the child should then be able to obtain a passport or travel document to return to Canada.
